Event Details

Save the date: #SolarChat on 3/28/12 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST will focus on Solar PV Economics.

Moderator Raina Brett Russo, president and co-founder of EcoOutfitters.net, will be joined by guest panelist Scott Gordon, senior vice president - sales of HelioPower (@repioneer) and Danny Kennedy, founder of Sungevity (@dannyksfun). The discussion will focus on consumers' biggest concerns about the financial commitment of solar; how PV installers can make the financial case for residential and commercial PV; how solar sales pros can best display the value of solar systems and the benefits of solar financing to increase sales; and more.

About Our Guests

A former software/systems engineer, Scott Gordon traded in his white collar for a "green" one in 2006 while shopping for a solar system for his own home. Since then, Scott and his team have sold over 10 megawatts of residential solar PV systems across California and Nevada. Scott was the driving force behind HelioPower’s first 1 Block Off the Grid (1BOG) campaign in 2009. The success of this and subsequent 1BOG campaigns have propelled HelioPower’s residential sales organization into California’s Top Ten. In late 2009, Scott forged a partnership with SunRun to offer Residential PPAs in the markets HelioPower serves. By allowing customers to go solar for as little as $1000 down, SunRun is now the financing vehicle of choice for over 60% of HelioPower’s residential customers.

A long-time social entrepreneur, Danny Kennedy has achieved global recognition as an environmental activist, spokesperson, and opinion leader. As Sungevity's executive leadership team and Board of Director, he is dedicated to bringing easy and affordable solar electricity to mainstream America and beyond. Most recently, Danny was the Campaign Manager for Greenpeace Australia Pacific. In 2001, he ran Greenpeace's California Clean Energy Campaign, the success of which helped lead to the current California Solar Initiative. Danny was the founder and first Executive Director of Project Underground and serves on several nonprofit boards.

About #SolarChat

#SolarChat welcomes solar and renewable industry experts and consumers who are "solar curious" to discuss relevant issues like solar energy, solar PV, solar hot water, solar pool heating, and related subjects.

#SolarChat provides an opportunity to connect homeowners and qualified installation professionals, to demonstrate the affordability and environmental impact of all types of solar solutions, and to educate consumers on this emerging field. "We believe in the power of solar to change the world," says Raina Russo, moderator of #SolarChat and CEO/co-founder of EcoOutfitters.net. "We hope #SolarChat will further advance EcoOutfitters' goal of making solar a reality for every American home and business."

For those new to Twitter, a hashtag (#) is an easy way to find and follow people who are tweeting about a certain topic. #SolarChat has a simple mission: Curious consumers, energy experts, and installation professionals can tune into Twitter at the designated chat time to share advice and resources, weigh in on discussion topics, pose questions or concerns, and work together to advance solar awareness.

#SolarChat is held on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST.
